Postponement & Cancellation Policy due to Bad Weather
- Unless threatened by extreme inclement weather BCM will be on.
- The market will be held on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
- Stallholders to provide their own weather protection eg sun and rain protection.
- If the market is threatened by and consequently postponed by inclement weather, the market is held on the following Saturday ie the 4th Saturday in the month.
- If the following Saturday is again postponed due to inclement weather, the market shall be cancelled until the next routine market on the following month.
- Final decision in regards to postponement or cancellation (due to inclement weather patterns) will be made on the morning of the market.
- Market Manager will check ground conditions, consult with committee & staff, as well as gauge response from stallholders, prior to decision making.
- If market postponed/cancelled manager will contact all major radio stations and place announcement to that effect, as well as alter message on phone answering system.
- Decision will be made no later than 7am on the morning of the market.
- If market postponed, ALL TRADERS must then reconfirm their site by calling the BCM Office on Monday following the cancelled BCM. Permanents need only call, give their name, site number and confirm their intention to attend. Casuals will need to re-book.
- If the market goes ahead on an inclement day, all stall fees and payments are due.
Notifying absences or attendances
- It is Always the stallholders responsibility to notify the market manager prior to the market if they are not attending any reason.
- Stallholders should contact market manager no later than Wednesday prior to the market if they plan on not attending.
- If the market is postponed to the following week due to inclement weather, it is the stallholders responsibility to contact market manager no later than 12 noon Tuesday following the postponed market to inform them if you will not be attending the following Saturday.
- Stallholders not notifying us by the designated time and day will have to pay their month in advance again upon returning the following month.
Conditions to be considered prior to final decision:-
- Duration and Volume of rainfall in the two weeks preceding the market.
- If rain is continuous for several days prior to the market with no respite, possible chance is that it will be postponed.
- If rains for several days prior to and clears on the Thursday/Friday prior to market, chances are that it will be on.
- If the water table is already high from previous downfalls, ground condition will be checked thoroughly, with chances of certain areas being closed or roped off.
- Ground conditions play a major role in final decision.
