Welcome to Bellingen Community Markets
We hope you’ve had a good month and ready for a good market day. It’s hard to know what the weather will bring, so let’s have faith and think sunshine and good times. It’s fun and beneficial to anticipate….manifest….. and make it happen !
The webpage is coming along very nicely, thanks to Jenni Findlay from Net Iconic Digital Marketing. We are slowly placing permanents on the site with their product information and contact details. If you don’t want this to happen please let me know. Click here to see more
We have a wonderful film crew visiting us on Saturday, telling a good story of local video shop in town and how they managed to keep going in these challenging times, especially since most other video stores have closed. Check out more information below.
Don’t forget, come prepared for all weather on Saturday, especially wind. Use heavy duty pegs to hold you down. I checked out the grounds today and they are in good condition, so as an all weather market, we will go ahead, even if it rains a little. I will check the park again on Thursday but it sounds like the skies are clearing (except for a shower on Friday) so we look forward to a good day.
Make the most of it and see you soon.
Cheers, Kaz
COOL LIVE MUSIC
Full Moon
This very cool three piece local band consists of an experienced keyboard player Pete who has played with Jon English. Haighy the bass player has played in various local bands and has a love of CC Cale and Delma on vocals, guitar and stomp box. They play a huge mix of genres from 70s to present. You will see and hear them on the main stage from 10am – 2.30pm.
Kalang River Forest Alliance is our community group
The Kalang River Forest Alliance‘s aim is to protect the Headwaters of the Kalang, Bellingen and Nambucca Rivers form the imminent industrial scale logging proposed to begin and if they move in, could be there for years. This country has important cultural values for the Gumbangyirr people, who have not been consulted. These pristine forests are a biodiversity hotspot and are homes to many endangered species. These include such plants as the silky milk pod, the scrub turpentine and the rusty plum. Large breeding colonies of koalas, greater gliders, yellow bellied gliders, potaroo, spotted tailed quolls and rufus scrub birds live there. Habitat loss is the main cause of extinction apart from the escalating climate change which these forests help mitigate.
The KRFA will be on the gates welcome visitors so please give generously where you can and find out more on what you can do to help protect our vital assets – trees and forests. All funds go towards promotion and keeping eyes and ears in the forests so we can protect.
Logo competition
It’s exciting to anticipate a funky new logo representing our market in 2022 and beyond. It would be very cool if one of our stallholders came up with something relevant. You know more than anyone what Bello Community Markets means.
I believe it’s about CELEBRATING DIVERSITY, CULTURE, GOOD FOOD, MUSIC & PEOPLE.
Inspired? Go on, give it a go… get your creative juices flowing and see what you can come up with.
Aviatrix filming this Saturday
Aviatrix Films is working with Rod O’Hara, owner of Bellingen Video Connection, to produce a short documentary film about the store and the wonderful local community who help to keep the store alive against all odds in the age of global entertainment streaming giants.
They will be filming at the markets this Saturday to capture Bello’s colour, vibrancy and diversity by filming stallholders, stalls, and marketgoers. They aim is to film from 8:30am to around 9:15am. The filming will be low impact with a small crew of two (producer and cinematographer), and will be using a compact, lightweight kit and wireless setup.
Don’t be shy and say hi, when the film crew go by and enjoy a magical market moment caught on film. How wonderful!

Thrive Festival 2023
On Saturday 4 March 2023 OzGREEN will be running the THRIVE FESTIVAL, a community event to showcase the abundance of skills, knowledge and talent we have within our region. The aim of Thrive Festival is to learn from each other and to create a sense of belonging and connectedness for everyone in the community.
The festival will be held at the Bellingen Showground in collaboration with the Bellingen Growers Market and Bellingen Poultry Market (to be confirmed).
Would you like to be involved in this Festival? Stallholders welcome. You can learn more about the festival and fill in the registration of interest form here.
We are seriously looking for a permanent toilet cleaner. Someone who will enthusiastically take on the role and diligently make our toilets sparkle and smell divine. It’s 10 hours for one day a month and it’s also lots of fun. Ideally they should be from the Bellingen Shire. Do you know anyone? If so please ask them to contact us asap.
Bellingen Community Markets…. not just a market place, but a great place, to be !
