Cheynne Murphy Duo

Playing on the main stage from 10am – 2.30pm

Cheynne Murphy is a heartfelt , folk-rock singer-songwriter originally born in Nowra (South Coast, NSW) and with no musical training he discovered his voice and “three chords and the truth” at the end of a university marketing degree. Two years later he had abandoned corporate aspirations and signed a world-wide songwriting deal with BMG publishing where he is still signed. Cheynne’s songs seem to effortlessly traverse the musical terrains of pop, folk-rock and alternative country. He has been described by Drum magazine as “a rare song-writing genius”; Rhythm Magazine as “big, warm, sprawling folk-rock, and Country magazine as ambling and cinematic but unpretentiously earnest”.  Free-to-air TV performances, national radio airplay, and a string of songwriting awards led to him debuting his first solo release “Firesongs for the Soul” at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest in the company of giants like Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. His last album “Headlights and Goodbyes” featured the inspirational guitar work of Jeff Martin (from The Tea Party). Cheynne has just released Pretty Little Bird, the fourth single from his latest LP Wayfarers Home and features long-term collaborators and trio members Mark Heazlett (guitar and vocals) and Mat Akehurst (drums).

“Classic Aussie folk-rock – soulful stories backed with big acoustic guitars, uplifting melodies, driving rhythms, and tasty guitar work. In the tradition of other timeless homegrown artists – from Paul Kelly to Pete Murray, the Black Sorrows to the Waifs…catchy, original and unmistakably Australian.” Source: Fender Australia

Annabelle Shelton is an Australian Futsal Legend !

Annabelle Shelton has been attending our market for several months now to raise money for her UK Futsal tour. She has recently returned and had the most amazing time. Annabelle and her family would like to thank our market and many people for supporting her, and would like to share the below.

Last year Annabelle Shelton was chosen to represent Australia on a Futsal tour of the United Kingdom. She has recently returned from her Futsal tour of the UK. The experience has given her even more passion and determination to further her football career. Two Australian teams travelled to Scotland, England and Wales over two and a half weeks where they matched their skills against some of the best teams across those countries.  The  Scossie Cup in Scotland was a big tournament with ten teams vying for the overall title. Annabelle’s team finished the tournament in 3rd with 1 win, 1 loss (to the eventual winners) and 8 draws.   Annabelle scored her first international goal in their 1-0 win over Glasgow City. Our other Australian team did a great job and were runners up for the title in a penalty shootout.

In England they played and trained against much older opponents from Stanground Academy and got a good feel for how the English playing style differs, hint- it’s a lot more physical !! City of Peterborough FC, a town with a very strong footballing community, were our opponents and Annabelle’s team won 10-3. She was named player of the match and scored her first international three goal hat trick.  The final tournament of the tour was the Roy Miller Cup played in Wrexham, Wales.  It was played as a round robin event with four teams in contention. Annabelle’s team won all of their games convincingly to claim the trophy with Australia 2 again strong runners up. Annabelle scored another three goal hat trick in the final to claim a 6-2 win. Throughout the tour both  teams were fortunate enough to train with top quality teams from Reith Rovers in Scotland, Stanground Academy senior girls team and a coaching session with the Youth Development Programme in England and also games against the United FC of Wrexham women’s team.

The tour was an invaluable experience and one that will last a lifetime. While visiting so many amazing locations and fascinating historical sites across the UK, Annabelle’s non-playing highlights were touring Anfield Stadium in Liverpool and watching Glasgow City vs Celtic play in the Women’s Scottish League and meeting Jacynta Galabaraarachchi, originally from Australia, who plays midfield for Celtic and was voted the best young player in the Scottish League last year. Celtic won the match 4-2.

Annabelle, currently a 14 year old student in year 8 at Nambucca Valley Christian Community School, began her futsal journey as a member of the school’s inaugural girls high school futsal team. With a strong showing at the Regional Schools Championships she was chosen for and eventually captained Far Northern NSW at the National Schools Championships in Brisbane. It was here that the Australian selectors spotted Annabelle’s strong court play and leadership skills.  Annabelle will be playing in the Regional Schools Championships again next week with hopes of further selections to come.

Thank you for supporting Annabelle on her journey. We’ll keep you posted on the next chapter.

Annabelle played in the Regional Schools Futsal Championships in Coffs on Wednesday and has been selected to play for NSW again at the National Championships. Needless to say she is very excited as she knows what an incredible experience it is.

From everyone at Bello Markets – Well done Annabelle and keep following your passion!!
