NEXT MARKET: SATURDAY 21 FEBRUARY
Bellingen, AU 19 C

Summer has arrived with a mixed bag of weather extremes. Fires , cyclones and flooding, high winds and temperatures. We are on tender-hooks with mother nature as she is upset with the many who don’t care, consider and value our precious natural resources.

We are fortunate to have our market amongst beautiful nature; very old trees, weaving waterways and creatures great and small. The park radiates energy for you to absorb and embrace as you wander through. Soft music in the background, the beautiful sound of laughter and friendly chatter, delicious scents of african, moroccan, lebanese, indian, italian foods and coffees. Im getting hungry just thinking about it. Oh and we do have a large diverse number of stalls.

New to our market this month is the Hilyte band giving us a rich fusion of ska, indie rock, Middle Eastern. See and hear them on the main stage from 10am. When the band has a break, the Bellingen Poetry Group will recite of few unique and interesting poems. The Bellingen Scouts are helping us set up and pack down and will be on the gates during the day welcoming all and shaking the bucket so please give where you can.

It’s the end of the school holidays so we look forward to seeing families. Even though it may be overcast with a chance of rain in the afternoon (they say), it will be hot, so please bring your hat and water to stay cool, calm and happy, and most importantly, have the best market day. and I hope to see you.

Market Manager

PS: The above image is the lovely Jess and her partner, who sells delicious jams, chutneys, pickles, breads and donuts in B section. You can also see friendly Cris from our crew on the right.

Hilyte Freedom Band is an original, genre-defying outfit from the Northern Rivers of NSW, creating a rich fusion of ska, indie rock, Middle Eastern textures, Americana, and goth. The result is a harmony-filled electric soundscape that resists easy labels and is best experienced live.

Their songs are drawn directly from the raw realities of life moments of chaos, beauty, humour, and truth. Edgy and quirky by nature, Hilyte Freedom Band pairs thought-provoking lyrics with a fearless emotional range that moves effortlessly between serious, playful, and brutally honest.

With both male and female lead vocals, the band weaves striking harmonies that can be lush and uplifting or haunting and dark, depending on the moment. This dual-local dynamic gives their music a powerful narrative depth, pulling listeners into stories that linger long after the final note.

The band features Dan on lead guitar and lead vocals, Kerrianne on lead vocals, Mik on bass, Rob on keys and effects, and Al on drums. Together, they create a sound that is immersive, unpredictable, and unapologetically authentic—music that challenges, captivates, and connects.

Bellingen Poetry group

When the band has a break the Bellingen Poetry Group will recite a few of their poems. Don’t miss their unique and inspirational performance.

In 2027 Scouts Australia will be sending a contingent of Scouts to attend the World Jamboree in Poland. Bellingen is lucky to have 7 eager Scouts that have registered to attend. A massive feat for a small town like Bellingen to have so many young people who will be representing Bellingen as well as Australia on the world stage. At the World Jamboree the Bellingen Scouts will meet scouts from all over the world and build their skill base and bring the skills back to Bellingen to share with the next generation of Cubs and Scouts.

The Bellingen Scouts are fundraising locally to take this once in a lifetime opportunity!!!

They will be on the gates welcoming all to our market and shaking the bucket so please help support their valuable cause and give where you can.
