Bellingen Community Markets 16 MAY 2026

Welcome to Bellingen Community Markets.

Hope you had a good month and stayed warm, dry and happy.

It’s been a bit drizzly of late but our gardens and land needs the rain. Predicting the weather is challenging at the best of times, and the weatherman doesn’t always gets it right either. They say Saturday will be mostly cloudy with showers later in the afternoon, so lets hold onto that positive vision and plan for a good day!

I will check the park tomorrow (Thursday) to ensure it is safe to go ahead on Saturday. If anything changes, all stallholders will be notified and notices placed on Facebook and webpage, so please watch this space and in the meantime, stay optimistic and sing for sunshine.

It’s always a fun day of connection, trade, cool music and yum food. Our inclusive event encompasses diversity, culture, respect, and community. We proudly and passionately hold tight to these values as we unite and celebrate every third Saturday of the month.

We always have the best entertainment, and this month is no different with Thoughts & Prayers embracing the main stage from 10am. Our community group is the Chrysalis Steiner School who are on the gates shaking the buckets to help send students on an Uluru adventure. See more information below.

This weekend the River Sounds Festival erupts north of town, and it certainly looks like they have heaps of cool music. We look forward to some of their patrons venturing over to our market.

Sadly a small accident occurred last market. A vehicle backed into another vehicle at 2pm pack up. Thank goodness it was a close call and no one was hurt, alas we all need to pay heed and slow right down, look around and stop unnecessary accidents. Please never be in a hurry as this is when errors occur. Never ever drive on football oval and avoid reversing Your patience and understanding in morning set up and afternoon pack down is much appreciated and your awareness and consideration is needed to keep everyone safe.

Happy mothers day to all the lovely mums out there. Hope last Sunday was relaxing and kind to you. The above fragrant rose is from my garden and it blossomed divinely on mother’s day morning. A sweet gift from my garden.

Keep smiling and smelling the roses, stay high and dry, and see you Saturday with bells on. 🙂

THOUGHTS & PRAYERS

.Thoughts & Prayers are an accomplished guitar and vocal trio hailing from the NSW mid north coast, specifically the vibrant communities of Valla Beach and Bellingen. The group is distinguished by the rich vocal harmonies delivered by Brett Barber and Deb Spillane, whose voices blend seamlessly to create a captivating soundscape. Adding a further dimension to the band’s dynamic is Pete Hardinge, whose skill on lead guitar enhances each performance. Together, the trio embark on musical explorations that range from the timeless melodies of Burt Bacharach to the grunge-infused tunes of Kurt Cobain, reflecting an impressive musical versatility.

Thoughts & Prayers are not confined to a single genre; instead, their repertoire spans pop, folk, rock and country. Their driving mission is to “follow the harmony”, allowing their sound to remain genre-fluid and ever-evolving.

The trio’s approach to music extends beyond traditional covers. They delve into “recovers”, “rediscovers” and “uncovers”, breathing new life and perspective into well-known and lesser-known tracks alike.

With Thoughts & Prayers, audiences can expect a performance full of surprises and fresh interpretations.

See and hear them on the main stage from 10am-2pm

CHRYSALIS STEINER SCHOOL

Chrysalis Steiner School is located in the beautiful Thora Valley, near the township of Bellingen. The school is founded on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Chrysalis aim to educate the whole person –  intellectually, artistically, socially, and morally – so as to develop each student’s innate self-discipline and strength of body and will.

Years 7 and 8 students are heading to Uluru, NT and will be shaking the buckets at gates to help them get there. Please support them where you can.

This month we ask casual stallholders to write their stall number on a big piece of paper and place on their car dash on market morning so our crew can easily identify them and better place them. This will eliminate traffic chaos and help all to flow smoother, hopefully! It also helps tremendously if you read and follow the above market procedures.
