Bellingen Community Markets 21 JUNE 2025

Welcome to Bellingen Community Markets and thanks for joining us this Saturday 21 June from 8am – 2pm at Bellingen Park, just south of town.

The skies have cleared and the big rain is behind us. The Park has been slowly drying out and sunny days are ahead . We never like cancelling a market, but in May it was for the best as the grounds were in a bad way. This means we have some catching up to do, as two months without a market is way too long. I hope all the people who were adversely affected by the recent flooding get the support they need and find some kind of normality very soon.

We have some excellent entertainment this month with new bello band “Skipping Stones” .and Urunga Public School P&C are our community helpers and will be on the gates welcoming all.

Oh glory be living on the mid north coast of Australia, away from the craziness of the world. Peace and love is omnipotent, and I invite you to say a little prayer to the universe for world peace and harmony.

We have had a couple of upgrades at the Park over last two month, such as a new Kiosk roof which the Lions Club will love and new foot bridges at Creek Lane, in front of tennis courts and lower path of food area. I even noticed they made a bitumen path running along. I asked them to extend this all the way through C food area, but they could not. This is definitely a future project to be done. They bridges look wider and stronger. The tennis club are resurfacing their courts, so there will be a ton of sand on pathway south of gate on church street, so no cars will be able to park along there this month. If needed, we have a stack of mulch ready to use, so let us know if you want some for your site.

Thanks again for joining us and have the best day.

Please keep reading our newsletter to find out what’s happening.

Urunga Public P&C

Help Urunga Public School students get to Canberra and the Snowy Mountains!

This July, their Year 5 and 6 students have the amazing opportunity to visit our national capital, Canberra, and the breathtaking Snowy Mountains as part of their Stage 3 unit on Government and Democracy. This unforgettable excursion will bring classroom learning to life with visits to Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport, and many other significant sites. Students will also explore the natural beauty of Jindabyne and Kosciuszko National Park.

Urunga Public are fundraising to help lower the cost for families and make this experience accessible to as many students as possible. Every dollar brings them closer to this enriching educational journey — and they truly appreciate our support!

Winter Solstice

Saturday 21 June is our winter solstice which is the shortest day and longest night of the year. It marks the moment the Earth’s South Pole reaches its furthest tilt away from the Sun. The word “solstice” comes from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because the Sun was believed to stand still for a moment before changing direction.

Lets make the most of this special day. Stand still for a few moments and give thanks for our freedom and peace and wish it for our world.
