Welcome to Bellingen Community Markets and thanks for joining us this Saturday 18 October
We have a full park of amazing stalls and people and being the end of the school holidays, we look forward to a busy beautiful day.
I am really sorry about cancelling last month. In hindsight it was a bad call but it was raining and I truly thought (going from BOM) more bad weather was heading from Dorrigo. Alas, how quickly things change. I hope we can move positively onwards and upwards and may our summer markets be super busy, fun, and bring a big smile to our dial.
FUNKATU returns this month, which is great news. Local lads, Louie, Dan and Ahva bring you something very funky. In between the band we have the The Chyrsalis School Busking Band, 15 inspiring youth musicians sharing their talents and passion. Both North Bellingen and Fernmount Fire Brigades join us at Church St gate.
Thanks for reading our newsletter to find out more about this Saturday’s market.
Have a wonderful week and see you soon.

THE CHYRSALIS SCHOOL BUSKING BAND
An inspiring group of about 15 string players in Years 3 – 5 sing and play strings (violin, viola, cello & double bass), accompanied by their teachers on violin, acoustic guitar and cajon. You might have seen them play outside the IGA and at different community events. The musical group are highly engaging and entertaining! See and hear them performing in front of the main stage at around 11am. https://chrysalis.nsw.edu.au/

NORTH BELLINGEN & FERNMOUNT FIRE BRIGADES
GET READY WEEKEND
We are fortunate this month to have both Fernmount and North Bellingen Fire Brigades join us. They will be on the gates welcoming all and raising needed funds but will also have their trucks at Church St gate and will give you the lowdown on being prepared for fires.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) is the lead combat agency for bush fires in NSW. For over 100 years we have been a significant part of the history and landscape of NSW. The RFS is widely acknowledged as the largest volunteer fire service in the world, and members of the RFS are trained to very high levels of competence to ensure they know what to do in an emergency. https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information
Fernmount Rural Fire Brigade has around 30 members, with half of the members being active fire-fighters, and ready to respond to a range of incidents, including bush fires, structure fires, motor vehicle accidents and supporting the local community with hazard reduction and private pile burns and during flood events. We enjoy close working relationships with other local RFS brigades and emergency services. We welcome new members from the Fernmount area, with all training, uniforms and equipment being provided at no cost. https://www.facebook.com/FernmountRFS/
North Bellingen Rural Fire Brigade is a busy community-centric fire brigade dedicated to protecting the rural and semi-rural areas around Bellingen. The brigade responds to a range of calls from bushfires to motor vehicle accidents to structure fires. The brigade works closely with fellow agencies including police, Fire and Rescue, the SES and the NSW Ambulance service. Members also engage actively with residents, building both awareness and readiness in the face of bushfire threats. https://www.facebook.com/221BELLINGEN/

Thanks for your wonderful cooperation.
The below map is our entire park and gives you a good idea on where everything is. There is another evacuation point at the back of the Memorial Hall but there is no longer a bridge connecting the park to the Memorial Hall. You can access the Memorial Hall from B section Creek Lane or Ford Street. We have never had to evacuate in all our 45 years and hope we never do, but it’s good to know.
Au revoir Dallas
Our condolences go to the Kemp family for the sudden passing of Dallas Kemp. Dallas was a longtime gem and crystal stallholder in D section and will be sadly missed by many.
May Dallas be in crystal heaven, sparkling like one of his special gemstones and smiling on us all.
His son Michael will be attending this market and will be in Dallas’ site, so go say hi and give your sympathies.

A most divine flower and native bee photo from Tassie, our happy succulent and toolman in D section.
Do you have a photo you would like to share in our newsletter?

Weather
Valla and surrounds had a crazy storm last week and the above is an amazing photo taken from Nambucca looking north to Valla, by Judith Chapman. I’m pretty sure one of those lightning bolts struck a pine tree in my neighbours yard, bringing it down hard, luckily dropping between the houses.
It’s hard to know what the weather is doing these days, BOM always looks more dismal than the other sites, so I choose to share below ACCU Weather forecast which is more positive. See you soon.
